Abstract:

A fire protection siting model is proposed and solved here which allocates positions for stations, engine companies and truck companies in such a way as to maximize the number of calls that have at least three engines located within an engine standard response distance and at least two trucks located within a truck standard response distance. Multiple vehicle co-location is allowed, so that an unlimited number of vehicles may be located at each station. Several alternatives to incorporate first due coverage are considered as well.
