In this paper a stochastic model is developed for the description of the distribution of the wet time interval following a period of rainfalls. Both the water intake and output are considered as stochastic variables. The model, which naturally accommodates the basic features of the phenomenon such as intervals between rainfalls, amount of water in a rainfall, evapotranspiration, initial water soil profile, is applied in a set of data from the island of Corfu.
