Abstract:

In this paper we present an application under development of the Adaptive Control Methodology concerning the climate change impact of the (Belgian) electricity industry. The created framework integrates an information system, a system dynamics model, a decision support system and a monitoring and control phase. This way, the long-term dynamical impacts of different reduction policies could be assessed and the most appropriate policy mix be determined, taking into account several criteria such as the CO2-emissions (Kyoto objectives) and the costs. Finally, after implementing the chosen “policy-mix”, monitoring and control should enable us to follow-up the evolution and correct possible deviations from the anticipated and wanted trajectory.
