Inventory is one of the functions in a production management system (PMS). However, this function was usually studied separately. In this paper, the authors propose a macro modeling approach which treats inventory as part of an integrated PMS. The objective is to show how inventory is related to the other production management functions as well as their interactions. GRAI graphic tools are used to develop an integrated inventory model. A global and aggregate view of inventory could be obtained.
