The paper discusses the use of computers in inventory management under the conditions of a decentralized planned economy, where companies have independence in a wide range of decision making problems. Under such conditions computerized links play a crucial role. Problems of the data base and its use in a structured planning system are discussed, considering the recently updated planning concepts of the Czechoslovakian economy.
