The study of production systems in order to manage and to improve them, defines a specific and difficult analysis problem which involves some important financial amounts. The analysis data which will be used by the analyst to build a production management model, have to be good and relevant. From this point of view, the knowledge acquisition about these systems cannot be realized without an analysis method. The analysis data assessment should be carried out with the people who have informed the analyst. This paper presents the use of structured analysis tools. First, it deals with the principles that any analysis process should be with respect to the field of production systems, and then gives the main features of the tools being used. Second, it studies how to use these tools, and how to connect their actions. A real example will illustrate this last point.
