This article describes a Knowledge Based Decision Support System (KB/DSS) for financial analysis and planning. The system called FINSIM has been in use for a long time, but only recently has it been re-implemented using the KB/DSS development tool called OPTRANS. The paper provides some initial results on the use of the new version of the system in the banking industry where it is used for credit analysis and in some French industrial companies at the corporate finance level. The adaptability of the system has been increased by using the Expert System approach.
