Due to the time uncertainty of activities and the absence of a formal description of project scheme, a new model is proposed based on a fuzzy-time Petri net (FTPN). On the basis of the formal definition, firing rules and mathematical properties, we use the FTPN diagram to plot the project scheme clearly, and turn the problem of finding a critical path to that of finding a property of the FTPN. In practice, we draw the conclusion that FTPN is not only useful to express the project scheme properly and clearly, but also give the formal representation and computation easily.
