Firstly, the paper points out the imperfection of the methods used in ranking interval numbers in some earlier papers. Then it gives the definition of relative superiority describing big or small interval number, and a new ranking method of fuzzy complementary matrix. On the basis of this, it gives a method for ranking interval numbers.
