Abstract:

Some 30 years ago, O.G. Haywood, Jr. published a pioneering paper relating game theory considerations to historical cases of World War II (‘Military Decision and Game Theory’). The paper has become one of the most cited in military operations research literature. Facts revealed long after its publication have shed new light upon the historical case and bear upon the core of that paper. The story is presented and its implications considered.
