Trade-offs between time and cost have been traditionally studied with the emphasis on crashing project duration with minimal cost. However, the resource constraint is largely ignored. A resource constrained time–cost trade-offs model is proposed under consideration of limited resource. A heuristic genetic algorithm with special chromosome representation is designed for the model and the procedure is programmed with Visual C++5.0. The computational results of a numerical example indicate that the model is rational and the algorithm is efficient.
