Abstract:

System reliability analysis is absolutely necessary for creating a successful new product. The analysis methods most in use are Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Model Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA). Owing to the fact that factors of failure models and effects are undefined and fuzzy, it is very difficult to forecast failure models efficaciously before the probability of occurrence of failures have been measured. On the basis of the method of FMECA and the theory of fuzzy sets and the method of fuzzy composite evaluation, this paper advanced a new method of system reliability analysis, i.e. Failure Model Effect Fuzziness Analysis (FMEFA), and discussed the method of FMEFA using an example of the reliability analysis of a sugar cane crusher system.
