The problem of scheduling checkout employees. Design and implementation of a solution

This paper is concerned with the problem of scheduling checkout employees in a supermarket, where Point-of-Sales (POS) machines provide management information. First, several modes for scheduling the checkout employees are summarized, and then the current algorithms for solving them are explained. Second, a model and process for solving management information problems using POS-data are discussed. Finally, the implementation, using a system structure chart and the interface design of the system for solving both employee scheduling problem and POS machine managing problem are presented.
