This is an extended abstract of a paper that was finalist in the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society's 2002 Student Paper Competition. An important task for the American Red Cross is bringing back blood donations to a central site. The model developed was applied to collection schedules for the Connecticut region, reducing total distance by nearly 60%.
