Analysis of the importance of the lifetime distribution on the inspection period in statistical quality control

In this paper we analyse the influence of some lifetime models, with different failure rates, in the expected total cost of the productive system per cycle and, on the other hand, in the optimal solution for the inspection period. Particularly, we analyse the practical consequence of one approximate solution for the inspection period. For this study, using X and R charts, we consider different working costs and, as an optimization method, we use simulation techniques.
