MRP II principles are widely accepted in manufacturing industries, but they have achieved little recognition in predicting repair/refurbish activities. This is partially because MRP logic classically has not recognised the repair order, with its implications of disassembly and reassembly. This article describes the application of MRP II and outlines the software implications in a railway workshop.
