Abstract:

This paper deals with a control policy in which server returns to operative state as soon as the queue length becomes N or the random idle period lapses whichever is earlier. Two models have been discussed. In the first model the queue capacity is finite and service occurs singly, whereas in the second service occurs under general bulk-service rule. Transient as well as steady state solutions, the mean queue length and other operational characteristics have been obtained.
