Deterministic production planning for a hydroelectric system

This paper relates some works performed at Hydro-Quebec on the deterministic production planning problem for a hydroelectric system. A detailed mathematical formulation of this optimization problem is first described. A specialized nonlinear programming solution method for solving this usually large-scale problem is then presented; various features of the problem are exploited within this method. Finally, some refinements to the basic formulation are introduced.
