Widespread use of Data Envelopment Analysis is hampered by the difficulty felt by non-specialist decision-makers to understand its processes. The present paper outlines a method that helps to find a solution for this problem in such a case when decision-making units are spread over a given space, integrating Geographical Information Systems and DEA models. The method is applied to the real case study of Universidade Federal Fluminense's geographical expansion, as measured by indicators such as population and presence of universities in the cities concerned (inputs) and number of students enrolled (outputs). Finally, the influence of the University in each city is mapped, using the MACBETH approach.
