The throughput of a production line can be improved by a proper layout of machines and also by meterial flow control between machines. This paper presents a heuristic method of determining machine layout in one-dimensional space to reduce travel distance of material transporters. The heuristic method is compared to an optimum solution method to measure its performance. [In Korean.]
