Some of the most difficult and perplexing problems faced by material/manufacturing managers are not operational but ethical in nature. One problem considered, ethics in purchasing practices, is strongly identified with the materials function; the problem of product integrity must also involve materials/manufacturing. Guidelines for effective handling of these two problems are derived from the underlying principles of just-in-time.
