Abstract:

Despite the impressive success of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in solving a wide range of discrete multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problems, a major drawback of its use to solve a large scale problem is the huge amount of work to make all the necessary pairwise comparisons. R. Islam, M.P. Biswal and S.S. Alam have developed a clustering procedure to solve a large scale MCDM problem by AHP. In order to show the viability of the proposed procedure they have considered the problem of choosing the best transport aircraft from the available twenty alternatives.
