This article deals with the problem of the standard batch quantity in the process industries. Most traditional MRP software packages show the bill of material per unit of parent item. However, the process industries, due to capacity constraints and the component amounts used, require that the BOM show component quantities per SBQ to avoid losing accuracy on critical active ingredients. The problem can be solved even if the SBQ feature is not available in the software.
