Because lots are tightly controlled in a just-in-time environment, more details can be taken into account in lot sizing decisions. By holding the number of lots constant at each operation inventory values, setup costs, and holding costs can be computed accurately. This article includes a total cost and lot sizing model and presents a spreadsheet layout that makes the model easy.
