This paper deals with the measurement of variations in Data Processing (DP) budgets and expenditures. It is concluded that the transportation, medical, legal and education industries have experienced the largest amount of volatility in their DP budgets and expenditures in the past few years. Similarly, the budgets and expenditures on desktop computers and systems software have had largest variations. The data for this study was obtained from Datamation Inc.
