The results of a survey of large U.S. industrial firms indicates high use of operations research techniques in the application areas of scheduling, forecasting, and advertising sales research. The heavily used techniques are regression analysis, linear programming, and simulation. Several techniques declined in use over the last ten years, including project planning/control and inventory analysis/control.
