A special issue of the journal devoted primarily to combination of the clustering model and problem with optimization perspective, composed of ten papers. The papers deal with a variety of issues, ranging from statistical procedures in case of class number dependence, through fuzzy clustering, two-way clustering, use of heuristic algorithms, rejuvenation of some of the known methods (dynamic programming, single linkage), to multidimensional scaling.
