In multiple-criteria shop scheduling, the use of equivalent relations between pairs of criteria in multiple criteria enables the scheduler to make rational exchanges (even swaps) among relevant criteria values. This study adopts the methods of choosing alternatives presented by Hammond, Keeney, and Raiffa that uses the concept of dominance. Tie-breaks may be performed between two criteria by expressing one criterion in terms of another criterion, provided that both criteria are mutually exclusive. This equivalence simplification can show how a schedule dominates another. An illustrative numerical example was used throughout.
