This paper presents the use of flow simulation and genetic algorithm to optimize the management parameters in production. To start with, this study reviews the main parameters to be taken into account for the management of an assembly line with bypass workstations. Then, we develop two cases of optimization to check the validity of the combination between flow simulation and a genetic algorithm for obtaining of optimal parameters. The first case corresponds to a production of only one type of product. The second case is more complex: several different types of products are simultaneously produced.
