This paper discusses optimum release policies for a software system minimizing the expected software cost, simultaneously meeting the reliability requirement and incorporating the effect of testing effort expenditure. Software reliability growth models are based on non-homogeneous Poisson processes. Assuming particular forms of testing effort functions, optimum policies are derived. A numerical example is given at the end.
