The finishing of beef cattle in feedlot is a procedure that has been used for Brazilian beef cattle growers in increasing scale. Due to its meaningful participation in the total production cost, the feeding cost is considered as a strategic variable in the managers's decision process. A linear programming model to formulate the minimum cost ration to beef cattle feedlots and a decision support system which has this model embedded into its structure are presented in this paper. A study case according to experimental beef cattle feedlot characteristics is simulated. Similarity between the results calculated and those observed in the experimental beef cattle feedlot was noticed.
