Abstract:

In this paper techniques of hierarchical simulation of large scale systems described by a set of partial differential equations are presented. Application of such techniques as decomposition-coordination to large scale systems enhance parallelism which in turn can be exploited using parallel computing facilities to achieve speed up in simulation time. Feasibilities of such techniques are investigated in conjunction with the simulation of gas flows in a pipeline taken as an example. Investigations were carried out on the sequential machine.
