Optimized production technology (OPT) is touted as the new breakthrough in automated production scheduling. The technique centres around a secret formula in a packaged software sold by Creative Output, Inc. Since the technique is relatively new and much of the material published about it is written by Creative Output employees, this article ties together company literature on OPT as well as inputs from outside sources to get a clearer picture of its claims and raise questions about its operation.
