A methodology to establish the minimum cost ration and the optimum production level for the beef yield in the Pampas region (Argentina) is developed. Using linear programming a minimum cost ration is calculated regarding restriction in energy, protein, dry matter intake and concentrates intake. Through multiple iterations is estimated the daily gain that maximises the profit. The model lets us introduce some restrictions and it is run by a spreadsheet for ease of use. In attention to the model results, a modification in the feed supply would be made. The use of more concentrate and the consequent increase in the gross margin (23 US dollars per hectare) and in the daily gain can reduce the duration of the process and increase the daily profit.
