Timetabling problems occur in virtually every high school, college and university. The problem involves the scheduling of teaching staffs, students and resources namely the classes and time so that no clashes of any staff or classes occur while all the stated curriculum requirements are satisfied and at the same time satisfying as many as possible of a range of additional institutional requirements. A computerised timetabling system based on hybrid of tabu search and rule based expert system is developed which provides a choice of feasible schedule and solutions in which the subjects allocated are well spread and satisfy the particular needs of an individual school.
