Abstract:

The variance measure was introduced in Locational Analysis for purposes of equity. Up to now only a small number of papers using the variance can be recorded in the locational decision literature. All of them consider single facility location problems. In this paper the 2-variance location problem is introduced. Despite the original continuous character of the problem, a finite procedure is designed, by using a decomposition into a finite number of subproblems and the fact that the involved functions are quadratic.
