In classical economic order quantity (EOQ) model, lead time was assumed to be zero and cycle time was treated as a continuous variable and units in inventory that do not deteriorate. However, in practice, it is generally observed that there is a significant lead time between a placement of an order and its realization into the inventory system and items in inventory deteriorate with lapse of time. In this paper, an attempt is made to develop an EOQ model for deteriorating items with random lead time when cycle is treated as a discrete variable. A model is supported by numerical illustration in the concluding part of the paper.
