An automata based theory has been developed recently by Wonham, Ramadge, and associates. Praclical implementation in large real-life systems requires automatic programming schemes, which yield supervisory control programs, and models of the controlled system’s behavior (for the purpose of performance analysis). The available data for these constructions would normally consist of a set of local structural models, and of local operational requirements. In this note the authors illuminate on the relations between local and global models, and outline some of the basic elements of such schemes, based on integration of local data.
