The old causal models used in decision support systems are not adequate any more to represent the evolution of systems presenting the high rhythm of interactions of modern organisations. Emergent properties or even chaotic situations are resulting from the non linear dynamic of these systems. The ‘Theory of Complexity’ of the Santa Fe Institute offers new approaches to these problems.
