One of the most demanding managerial decision making problems is the assignment of scarce resources to activities over time to optimize some measure of performance. For a version of this problem known as the Resource Constrained Scheduling Problem, Norbis and Smith have developed dynamic heuristics. In this paper an interactive schema is presented that allows the decision maker to change the relative priority of the jobs as well as the priority rules. Experimental results are presented with the interactive decision support system for comparing alternative scheduling rules.
