Abstract:

Conventional control systems are based on mathematical control laws for continuous process control or on logical statements in discrete control applications. It is shown how using fuzzy sets and appropriate connective operators in fuzzification and de-fuzzification interfaces leads to fuzzy control, which reconciles these two conventional classes of control systems. This naive introduction of fuzzy control is illustrated by simple examples. Eventually, some features of fuzzy control are briefly reviewed.
