Abstract:

A traditional decision support system (DSS) is comprised of three subsystems: (1) database and database management, (2) modelbase and modelbase management, and (3) dialogue management. While the first two subsystems have their own ‘base,’ the dialogue subsystem does not. The relational view, among others, has been used to organize the database and the modelbase subsystems, however, there has been little progress in adopting a similar concept for the dialogue subsystem. In this paper, the concept of ‘dialogbase,’ a base for menu-driven dialogue using a relational framework, is suggested for an integrated ‘relational’ decision support system.
