Analyzing service blueprints using phase distributions

This paper presents a method for representing and analyzing stochastic service processes that extends the service blueprinting technique. Several properties of phase distributions are used to find the distribution of total service time for blueprinted services. This distribution can then be used to construct performance standards for controlling service operations. Our method also provides a means to determine the economic and operational consequences of alternative blueprint structures.
