The aim of this paper is to make a short overview of recent developments of the rough set theory applied to multi-attribute decision problems. First, some basic concepts of the rough set theory are recalled in an informal way. Then, the contribution of rough sets to decision aid is characterized with respect to problems of multi-attribute sorting, choice and ranking. The idea of defining rough approximations using a similarity relation instead of an indiscernibility relation is also presented. An extensive bibliography completes the paper.
