Abstract:

The authors propsoe a metric method to rank n players in an incomplete, unbalanced tournament. The method adjusts the tournament outcomes, in order to produce a transitive relation, and a ranking for the n players. The proposed criterion requires solving a non-linear programming problem on n-1 bounded variables.
