A heuristic approach to solving project scheduling problems under fuzziness is considered. The proposed heuristic uses a set of known heuristics based on fuzzy priority rules. The set of fuzzy priority rules is examined in order to find a subset of them (called a ‘beam’) which is the most efficient in minimizing the fuzzy project makespan. It is shown that a beam consisting of four best rules produces schedules almost as good as those provided by using all of the heuristics considered.
