Location of a garbage collection transfer station in Fortaleza

This work shows a locational decision process of a transfer station in the city of Fortaleza. The location became urgent to improve the logistic system of domiciliar and point-to-point garbage collection. Our results shows that savings of nearly 30% will be obtained with respect to transportation costs over the operational proposal from the State Secretary of Urban Development, meaning 23% reduction of total costs. An amount of approximately US$ 2.9 million (in American dollars) will be saved annually, serving also a recycling plant that will be installed.
