The paper considers a service facility that has a monopoly on the service it provides and offers two different prices for that one service. Comparing the pre-emptive resume discipline to the nonpreemptive discipline, it shows that the number of customers who opt to pay the higher service price is greater in the first discipline than in the second, and thus the service facility would gain more by implementing it.
