Abstract:

Product warranty has become increasingly important for both sellers (as a promotional tool) and buyers (as a promotional device). This has led to a large literature on product warranties, dealing with issues from many points of view. Operations Research (OR) has played an important role in the study of many of these issues. This paper presents an overview of this literature and defines new topics in product warranties where OR can make further contributions.
