Controller design for vehicle anti-lock brake systems (ABS) requires consideration of many competing performance criteria. Numerical multicriteria optimization methods can drive an explicit quantitative design process. This can be particularly useful in current efforts to develop regulation for ABS performance. ABS systems are highly nonlinear and several control algorithm approaches are used. This article uses a multi-criteria Quasi-Monte Carlo method to optimize and compare three ABS nonlinear control algorithms. The implications of the results for ABS regulation are discussed.
